New Delhi, Aug 24 Congress VP Rahul Gandhi today welcomed the Supreme Court decision maintaining the privilege to protection as a central right and said it was a noteworthy hit to "fascist forces" and a dismissal of the BJP's ideology of "suppression through reconnaissance".

The judgment was a "triumph for each Indian", Gandhi said on Twitter.

"Welcome the SC decision maintaining Right to Privacy as an intrinsic part of person's freedom, flexibility and respect.

The SC decision marks a noteworthy hit to rightist powers," he tweeted.

It was a "sound dismissal" of the BJP's belief system of "suppression through reconnaissance", Gandhi said.

In a historic decision, the Supreme Court today unanimously declared that the privilege to protection was a key directly under the Constitution.

A nine-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice J S Khehar ruled that the privilege was "an inborn piece of the Right to Life and Personal Liberty under Article 21 and the whole Part III of the Constitution".

The decision on the exceedingly disagreeable issue managed petitions testing the Center's turn to make Aadhaar mandatory for people looking to profit by different social welfare plans.
