Pakistan violates ceasefire, shells regions in Poonch

Jammu, Aug 16 Pakistan today shelled forward posts and civilian areas along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch locale, even as an Army jawan injured in a before occurrence in Uri part capitulated at a hospital, an Army officer said.

This is the fifth consecutive day that Pakistani troops have violated the ceasefire along the LoC. Four jawans and a woman have died this month in Pakistani terminating.

"One Havaldar Narendra Singh, who was injured in ceasefire violation by Pakistani Army on August 7, died today," an Army officer said.

The 43-year-old jawan, who had a place with Haripur town of Uttarakhand, is made due by his wife Asha Devu and two daughters.

There have been nine ceasefire violations in past five days starting from August 12 wherein two jawans and a woman were killed. Five people, including four jawans, were harmed in the attacks.

"Pakistan Army started unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of little arms, automatics and mortars from 0534 hours in Poonch part along the Line of Control (LoC) today," a defence representative said.

"Indian Army struck back emphatically and adequately," he included.

As indicated by reports, firing and shelling were accounted for at six places in Mankote, Basuni, Mendhar, Malipur, Dharna and Patri of Poonch region.

Pakistan disregarded the truce four times on August 13 by discharging and shelling in Krishnagati, Nowshera and Mankote, bringing about wounds to three jawans.

On August 12, Pakistani troops intensely let go on forward posts and non military personnel zones in Krishnagati and Poonch areas in which a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and a lady were slaughtered.

A Pakistani Army shell detonated close to a house executing 40-year-old Raqia Bi of Gohlad Kalran on August 12. Naib Subedar Jagram Singh Tomar was likewise slaughtered in Pakistani terminating in Krishnagati area.

On August 8, Pakistani troops shelled Krishnagati part of Poonch locale, in which Sepoy Pawan Singh Sugra was shockingly harmed and later surrendered to wounds.

On August 7, an Army jawan was harmed in a truce infringement by Pakistani troops along the LoC in Uri part of Baramulla locale.

On August 6, Pakistani troops abused the truce by terminating at Indian posts along the LoC in Baba Khori zone of Rajouri locale of Jammu and Kashmir.

2017 has seen a sharp increment in truce infringement by Pakistan.
