New Delhi, Aug 29 Bhutan today respected the finish of the 73-day standoff between Indian and Chinese troops in Dokalam and trusted it would help in guaranteeing peace and serenity at the tri-intersection.

"Bhutan welcomes the separation by the two sides at the face-off head site in the Doklam range," the Bhutanese foreign ministry said.

In a major diplomatic breakthrough to end the delayed standoff between their troops, India and China yesterday separated their border personnel at Dokalam.

"We trust this adds to the maintenance of peace and tranquility and business as usual along the borders of Bhutan, China and India with regards to the existing agreements between the respective countries," the Bhutanese foreign ministry said.

Troops of the two nations had been secured a standoff in Dokalam since June 16 after Indian troops prevented the Chinese Army from building a road in the disputed area. India had sent around 350 Army personnel in the area.

Bhutan and China have a dispute over Dokalam, a deliberately key area at the Bhutan-India-China trijunction in the Sikkim sector.
