Nine coaches of Duronto Express crashed

Asangaon, Aug 29 The engine and nine coaches of the Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto Express derailed amongst Vasind and Asangaon stations in Maharashtra early today following an avalanche, a senior railway official and a reporter on- board the train said.

The accident occurred at 6:36 am.

No traveler is reported to be harmed in the incident up until now, Sunil Udasi, Chief PRO of the Central Railway, said.

Udasi said the wrecking was caused due to a landslide.


"The reason (of crash) is sudden landslide due to heavy rains. But graciously enough, the driver did an excellent job of applying emergency breaks," he said.
