Act against cops for "custodial torment"; Telangana opposition

Hyderabad, Aug 14 The Congress, TDP, BJP and other opposition parties in Telangana today looked for the mediation of Governor E S L Narasimhan in an incident of asserted police overbearing against a few people having a place with Dalit and in reverse classes in Rajanna Sircilla locale.

An appointment of opposition pioneers, which included TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, state BJP chief K Laxman and TDP's Telangana unit head L Ramana, met the Governor and presented an update in such manner.

Congress' Reddy said the opposition parties would meet President Ram Nath Kovind in the not so distant future.

The opposition pioneers encouraged the Governor to found an autonomous investigation into the occurrence and furthermore make a move against police authorities who enjoyed "torment".
