Sorabjee terms Supreme Court decision on triple talaq as progressive

New Delhi, Aug 22 Noted law specialist Soli Sorabjee today hailed the Supreme Court decision holding the act of triple talaq as unconstitional, saying no Muslim husband would be able to divorce his wife using this method.

Sorabjee, additionally a former Attorney General for India, named the judgment as "dynamic" and one which ensured the privileges of the Muslim ladies.

"It is a dynamic judgment which has secured the privileges of the women and now no Muslim man can divorce his wife through this technique," Sorabjee said.

He, in any case, said that it "would have been something more" if the judgment was given consistently by the five-judge Constitution seat.

"I am in agreement with the larger part decision, which is official. The minority see is to get a law the issue in next a half year," Sorabjee said.
