French President meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Hyderabad

New Delhi, Mar 10 French President Emmanuel Macron met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Hyderabad House here on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, Macron met External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj.

Macron went by Rajghat while being joined by his wife, Brigitte Macron and M.J. Akbar, the Minister of State for External Affairs, and paid his tribute at the commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi.

President Macron marked the guest's book and was given a bust of Mahatma Gandhi.

Many foreign leaders have visited Rajghat and have paid their tributes to the 'Father of the Nation'.

Earlier, President Macron arrived at the Rashtrapati Bhawan and inspected a guard of honour.

He met with his Indian counterpart Ram Nath Kovind, his wife Savita Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi respectively.

Prime Minister Modi and President Macron will hold delegation level talks in Delhi later in the day.

Amid the discussions, both the leaders are relied upon to review the progress achieved in respective relations and trade sees on provincial and worldwide issues of shared intrigue. A few understandings are relied upon to be marked in different territories.

Prime Minister Modi and President Macron will co-chair the International Solar Conference (ISA) on Sunday.

The ISA, an alliance of in excess of 121 nations, was started by Prime Minister Modi in January 2016. The essential goal of the cooperation is to work for effective exploitation of solar energy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

The French President touched base here on Friday and was gotten at the airport by Prime Minister Modi in a special gesture.

The last visit of President Macron to India was in January 2016, when he was the main visitor at the Republic Day festivities. Prime Minister Modi had last gone by France in June a year ago.
