New Delhi, Mar 16 The Central Government on Friday advised the Supreme Court it needs to discharge 56 Pakistani detainees.
"We have found no case against 56 Pakistani detainees held up in Indian prisons, because of which we would need to release them and send them back to their nation," Center revealed to Apex Court in an affidavit.
Earlier on March 7, Pakistan accepted humanitarian proposals received from India for exchange of prisoners more than 70 years of age, encouraging the visit of medical experts from both sides to examine the mentally challenged detainees for their repatriation and restoration of judicial committee mechanism.
As indicated by reports, Pakistan Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, while tolerating the proposition, recommended that the trade be pertinent to tyke detainees under 18 years old and the individuals who are more than 60.
