Prime Minister Modi, French President visit Deendayal Hastkala Sankul in Varanasi

Varanasi (UP), Mar 12 Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron went by the Deendayal Hastkala Sankul, a trade help place for handicrafts at Bada Lalpur territory here on Monday.

The two leaders cooperated with craftsmans and saw a live show of their artworks.

President Macron also signed the visitor's book at the trade facilitation centre.

The Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had reported in the 2014-15 union budget by setting up of a trade assistance centre and a crafts exhibition hall to create and promote handlooms, handicrafts and silk products of Varanasi and to give fundamental help to weavers, craftsmans and business visionaries of the city.

It would help in fortifying their advertising exercises in local and additionally global markets and in conveying forward the rich convention of handlooms at Varanasi. In addition, it will give a push to household and international tourism.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi and President Macron together initiated the 100 MW sunlight based power plant in Mirzapur locale of Uttar Pradesh.

The solar plant has been worked at a cost of around Rs. 500 crore by French firm Engie. It will produce 15.6 crore units of power every year, which is around 1.30 crore units for each month.

Prime Minister Modi arrived in Varanasi and got President Macron at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport here today.

For the welcome of the French President, the Ganga Ghat of Varanasi has been decorated with flowers. The task of the pontoons in the Ganga Ghat has been totally shut to the public.

Prime Ministe Modi and President Macron will then touch base at the acclaimed Assi Ghat in Varanasi, where they will board a pontoon for a ride along the Ghats of the Ganga, coming full circle at the memorable Dashashwamedh Ghat.

Assi Ghat is where Prime Minister Modi authoritatively started the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan' crusade in 2014.

The Prime Minister will likewise have a lunch to pay tribute to President Macron.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will hail off a train between Maduadih Railway Station in Varanasi and Patna. He will dispatch different advancement undertakings and address an open gathering at the DLW Grounds in Varanasi.

President Macron landed in India on Thursday for a four-day visit.

The last visit of President Macron to India was in January 2016, when he was the main visitor at the Republic Day festivities.

PM Modi had gone by France in June a year ago.
