New Delhi, Mar 18 Former prime minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday said that the present condition of economy demonstrates that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)- drove government failed to satisfy guarantees it made.
"The BJP government has messed up the economy. At the point when Modi ji was crusading, he made loads of tall guarantees, those guarantees have not been satisfied. He said that BJP- if it comes to power- will give two crore employments, we have not seen even two lakhs of occupations," Singh said on the last day of the two-day Congress Plenary Session.
"The evil idea and badly thought about enactment with respect to demonetisation, and the enactment on GST hurriedly set forward have destroyed many jobs," he added.
The senior Congress leader further said that the guarantees being made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the keep running up to the 2019 elections, were infeasible under the financial conditions.
"Modi ji himself said we will double farmers' income in six years. Presently on if you need to double farmers' income in six years, you require a development rate of 12 percent for each annum as the base and that is incomprehensible. In this manner it is one of those announcements, which is only a 'jumla' like statement, which isn't probably going to be accomplished," Singh said.
Singh also touched the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, "Modi Government has mismanaged Jammu and Kashmir more than ever. The two wings of the administration there is working against each other, the climate is falling apart without stopping for even a minute that is clear from the way that our outskirts are uncertain, be it cross-border terrorism or internal terrorism."
The 84th Congress Plenary Session is being held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, here.
