Nitish Kumar: Have not given up on special status demand for Bihar

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday clarified that he has not abandoned his request of unique class status for the state. Tending to mediapersons in Patna, the Janata Dal United (JDU) leader said that his party has been requesting special category status for Bihar for over 10 years.

"We have been continuously demanding it and have not given up the issue. It's interpretation of few people that we are quiet on the issue yet we would prefer not to talk about it everyday," said the Bihar Chief Minister.

This comes two days after reports cited JDU leader KC Tyagi as saying that a delegation of the gathering will meet the fifteenth Finance Commission and present a request of with respect to the issue.

The statement by the Bihar Chief Minister and the JDU accept significance as the party is in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state. Furthermore, the BJP is as of now confronting partner inconvenience over uncommon status to Andhra Pradesh.

As of late, Chandrababu Naidu-drove Telugu Desam Party (TDP) left the NDA alliance, blaming the BJP for not satisfying its promise of providing special status to Andhra Pradesh.
