AAP MLAs disqualification: Delhi High Court puts Election Commission proposal aside

New Delhi, Mar 23 The 20 MLAs had been disqualified on the recommendation of the Election Commission.

In a major relief for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Delhi High Court has put aside the request by the Election Commission to exclude 20 AAP MLAs for holding workplaces of profit.

The 20 MLAs had been disqualified from office by the President, on the proposal by the Election Commission. The Delhi High Court has put that proposal aside.

This means, the 20 AAP members will keep on holding their seats.

In any case, the help for the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his AAP won't be perpetual. The EC will now need to look again at the workplace of benefit charges against the 20 MLAs.
