Patna, Mar 19 Former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and her senior child Tej Pratap Yadav on Monday expressed disappointment over the conviction of RJD leader Lalu Prasad in the fodder scam, saying they had figured he will be acquitted.
"I was expecting acquittal. It disappointed us. In any case, we regard the decision and have confidence in legal," Rabri Devi told the media here.
Tej Pratap said he expected "relief" for his dad. In any case, "we regard the court verdict".
A special CBI court in Ranchi on Monday convicted previous Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad in the fourth grain trick case yet vindicated another previous Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) representative Shakti Yadav said the party would challenge the verdict in the High Court.
Not long after the verdict, several RJD pioneers and laborers accumulated outside 10, Circular Road, the official home of Rabri Devi. Most said the RJD chief had been sentenced because of political vendetta.
"How come Jagannath Mishra has been acquitted in a scam in which Lalu Prasad is convicted? Mishra was cleared as he bolstered the BJP, which has `convicted ` the CBI, and Lalu Prasad was sentenced for battling against them," RJD worker Mukesh Singh said.
