Injured Maria Sharapova hauls out of Miami Open

London, Mar 17 Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova has pulled out of next week's Miami Open, after suffering an injury to her left forearm.

Reporting her withdrawal from the tournament, Sharapova said that she is very tragic to miss one of her favourite tournaments.

"I am extremely sad that I have to withdraw from one of my favorite tournaments with my left forearm injury. I am doing everything conceivable to come back to the visit at the earliest opportunity," the WTA cited Sharapova, as saying.

In the interim, Miami Open Tournament Director James Blake said that injuries are the part of the diversion and that they hope for Sharapova's quick recovery.

"I know the amount Maria needed to play Miami this year, so I can envision her disappointment. We were anticipating seeing her play Wednesday, yet tragically wounds are a piece of the diversion. We trust she recuperates rapidly and is back on the court soon," he said.

Sharapova's withdrawal comes after her disillusioning effort at the Indian Wells Masters in California this week, where she drooped to a straight-sets defeat at the hands of rising Japanese star Naomi Osaka.

The defeat came after she withdrew from the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships because of a forearm strain.
