Biplab Deb takes pledge as Tripura CM

Agartala, Mar 9 Bringing a conclusion to 25-year-rule of the Communist Party of India in Tripura, Bhartiya Janta Party state president Biplab Kumar Deb took oath as the Chief Minister of Tripura on Friday.

Jishnu Dev Burman also took pledge the Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav and different pioneers of the BJP-ruled states went to the swearing-in ceremony.

Governor Tathagata Roy administered the oath.

Earlier in the day BJP leader Ram Madhav and Biplab Kumar Deb went to active Chief Minister Manik Sarkar to welcome him to the swearing-in service.

On Wednesday Union Minister Nitin Gadkari declared Deb as the Chief Minister of Tripura while Jishnu Kumar Deb as the Deputy Chief Minister.

The BJP-Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) coalition defeated the Communist Party of India with a 66% greater part in the Tripura administrative assembly elections.

The BJP won 35 of the 59 seats that went to surveys in Tripura, removing the CPI(M) which won just in 17 assembly constituencies.
