Supreme Court extends Aadhaar connecting with bank accounts, cell phones indefinitely till final judgement

New Delhi, Mar 13 The Supreme Court on Tuesday said that the connecting of Aadhaar cards with bank accounts and cell phones won't be required until the point that the peak court conveys the last judgment.

The five-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, said that the legislature can't demand for compulsory Aadhaar.

The top court has been hearing a bunch of petitions challenging the validity of the Unique Identification number. The order indefinitely extends the due date of March 31 to connect the 12-digit Unique Identification number.

Aadhaar will, be that as it may, be required for social schemes, the SC said.

On December 15, 2018, the apex court had extended till March 31 2018, the due date for mandatory linking of Aadhaar with different administrations and welfare schemes.
