Prime Minister Modi to meet Xi Jinping on April 27

Beijing, April 22 Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on April 27-28 in Wuhan city, in front of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in June.

China's foreign minister Wang Yi, while addressing a joint press conference alongside India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, made the announcement on Sunday.

Yi also said China will ensure the casual summit between the two leaders will demonstrate as a point of reference in the relations of the two nations.

"We will ensure that the informal summit (between PM Modi and Chinese President Jinping on April 27-28) will be a total achievement and a point of reference in China-India relations," said Wang.

The announcement has come when Swaraj is in Beijing for SCO outside pastors' meet, which will be hung on Tuesday. The gathering is being held in keep running up to the alliance's summit in Qingdao city in June

The informal summit is being viewed as a move by the two nations to recover their ties on track following the Doklam remain off a year ago, wherein troops from the two countries were occupied with an eyeball-to-eyeball standoff close Sikkim fringe between June to August.

As of now, Swaraj is on a two-nation visit to China and Mongolia.
