Mayawati condemns protests staged by upper caste groups: SC/ST Act

New Delhi, Sep 7 Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Friday condemned a challenge held by upper standing gatherings across over different states in the nation against the latest amendment approved by Parliament to retract a Supreme Court judgement over the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

On March 20, while hearing a case from Maharashtra the apex court found that the SC/ST Act was being misused, and requested that government servants can't be immediately arrested on complaints made by the SC and ST people before the issue is investigated by high ranking officers.

While addressing a press conference, the previous Uttar Pradesh chief minister asserted that the 'Bharat Bandh' was a politically-roused move by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the general elections.

"By inciting people to raise their voices against the upliftment of Dalits, OBCs, Adivasis and other underprivileged gatherings in the general public, the Center is making a separation in the general public so as to pack greatest votes in the not all that inaccessible general elections," she said.

"The protesters have a wrong impression in their mind that such corrections to the Act will stifle the general population of different networks," she included.

Calling the ongoing 'Bharat Bandh' an entire disappointment, the BSP president featured that the challenge was just held in those states which are managed by the BJP. "It is obvious from this that the BJP is attempting to charm individuals on the issue of position and religion proceeding with their vote bank governmental issues," she reiterated.

Mayawati also alleged that the Centre isn't doing what's necessary to facilitate the lives of Scheduled Castes stations and OBCs, which are reeling under neediness for the recent decades. "BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are over and over presenting hostile to Dalit policies in the nation. Not just that, the legislature is additionally intentionally not showing right certainties for the situation amid the Supreme Court hearing. This way they are making the mockery of our system," she said.

In her finishing up comment, Mayawati urged upper caste people, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Castes and other in backward classes not to fall prey to the strategies of the BJP later on. She included that these moves are taken by the BJP trying to clear the 2019 general elections.

The apex court, in its March 20 administering, had banished immediate arrests in cases registered under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, after which Dalit associations organized a gigantic dissent the nation over on April 2 against the judgement of the best court.

Later, the Centre filed a review petition against the ruling. The top court refused to stay its order and asked all parties to submit detailed replies.
