Bucharest [Romania], Sep 19 Vice President Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday acknowledged the "longstanding excellent relations between India and Romania," and laid accentuation on the association between the two nations over the political, monetary, science and technology, culture and people-to-people domains.
"India and Romania relations predate our independence. Today, we are bound together as much by our shared values of democracy and rule of law as by our commitment to be mindful universal accomplices adding to peace, security and solidness in our districts and the world," an announcement issued by Naidu following his interaction with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis read.
"This morning's talks with President Iohannis and his delegation were very meaningful and productive. We acknowledged the longstanding excellent relations among India and Romania, assessed reciprocal and multilateral collaboration, and reaffirmed the shared want to thoroughly fortify our association over the political, monetary, science and innovation, culture and people-to-people spaces," the statement added.
The statement added that the two nations concentrated on upgrading exchange and venture relationship covering parts, for example, ICT, pharmaceuticals, producing, infrastructure, logistics, agri-foods, tourism.
Naidu also underscored the need to "battle the scourge of terrorism in the entirety of its structures and appearances and cooperate to dispose of the financing of fear and places of refuge for terrorists and their sponsors."
"We thank Romania for supporting India's efforts at developing consensus on draft Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT)," the announcement noted.
"My discussions with President of Senate of Romania, Mr. Calin Popescu-Tariceanu were important and productive. The longstanding phenomenal relations among India and Romania gave the background to our fruitful engagement. India stands ready to intensify parliamentary visits and other high level exchanges between our nations to reinforce ties in the political, monetary, culture zones," the statement included.
Naidu arrived in Romanian capital Bucharest for the last leg of his three-country visit on Tuesday. The Vice-President is scheduled to go to the India-Romania Business Event, where he will address CEO's from both the nations.
He will depart for India on September 20.
