PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi greeted former PM Manmohan Singh on his 86 birthday today

New Delhi, Sep 26 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday greeted former prime minister Manmohan Singh on his birthday 86th birthday and prayed God for his long life and good health. "Greetings to our former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh ji on his birthday. I pray for Dr Singh's long life and good health," Modi tweeted.

Born on September 26, 1932, in Punjab Gah's (now Pakistan), Singh was the PM for two successive terms from 2004 to 2014 amid the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi too wished Manmohan Singh on his birthday. Valuing his caring support of the reason for country assembling, the Gandhi scion stated, "Manmohan Singh ji's birthday is an open door for us to acknowledge and recollect his many long periods of benevolent administration and devotion to the reason for country building. I wish him an exceptionally cheerful birthday and good health and happiness always."

Singh, who was the first Sikh in office, was also the first prime minister since Jawaharlal Nehru to be re-chosen in the wake of finishing an entire five-year term. The first prime minister is an economist who turned into a lawmaker to serve the nation. He has served in different positions, including as RBI executive and fund serve.

Singh's political profession started in 1991 when he was appointed as the nation's finance minister under the leadership of late PM PV Narasimha Rao. It was that year amid which he helped introduce ' progression and privatization' to the Indian economy.
