Pakistan, Chinese foreign ministers hold talks on CPEC

Islamabad, Sept 8 The foreign ministers of China and Pakistan, Wang Yi and Shah Mehmood Qureshi, held bilateral discussions on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other issues of mutual interests.

Wang, who arrived in Pakistan for a three-day visit, reiterated China's support for Pakistan's development and agreed for greater strategic cooperation between the two nations, Geo News reported.

Pakistan Foreign Office representative Muhammad Faisal stated, "Chinese State Councilor Yi underscored Beijing's firm help to Pakistan's financial progress and development."

"China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, economic cooperation, cultural and educational exchanges, and regional situation were discussed during the meeting," he added.

Prior to the delegation-level talks, the two foreign ministers held a balanced gathering at the Foreign Office. Wang also welcomed Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to be the visitor of respect at the International Import Expo in China.

The Chinese Foreign Minister is scheduled to meet Pakistan's President, Prime Minister, Speaker of the National Assembly and the Army Chief.

This is the first official visit by a Chinese dignitary since the new government was formed in Pakistan.
