Islamabad, Sep 19 Pakistan on Wednesday confirmed that there was no formal communication with India on Kartarpur Sahib corridor.
"No formal communication with India on Kartarpur corridor. Pakistan stays open and positive," Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The confirmation from Islamabad comes a day after External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj composed a letter to Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, saying that Pakistan has issued no official explanation regarding opening the Kartarpur route for Indian pilgrims.
In the letter, Swaraj had educated that over the last few years, Pakistani experts have just permitted a limited number of Indian pilgrims to the Gurdwara and other shrines in Pakistan. She additionally guaranteed that the "administration remains seized of the issue and will keep on taking up the issue with Pakistan."
The entire controversy started after Congress leader and Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu guaranteed that Pakistan will open the hall to Kartarpur Sahib on the event of the 550th birth commemoration of Guru Nanak one year from now.
The Kartarpur route along the India-Pakistan fringe is 3 kilometers from Gurdaspur, Punjab. On the off chance that opened, it will permit Sikh pilgrims a direct access to the historic Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan, where Guru Nanak passed on in 1539.
