Opposition assaults government on move to get rid of LPG subsidy

New Delhi, Aug 1 Opposition parties today assaulted the legislature over its choice to bit by bit get rid of the LPG subsidy, calling it "savage" and requesting that the proposal be withdrawn.

K C Venugopal (Cong) raised the issue amid the Zero Hour, saying it will unfavorably influence the basic man and there was no support of it when the raw petroleum costs had gone down. "It ought to be promptly pulled back," he said.

Sudip Bandopadhyay (TMC) said the steady increment in the LPG chamber cost by the legislature had been most noteworthy over the most recent six years.

Describing the move as "anti-welfare", he wondered what will be the "destiny" of more than 2.5 crore ladies given the association for nothing.

While Sreemathy Teacher (CPI-M) said the choice was brutal, N K Premachandran (RSP) blamed the legislature for keeping away from straightforwardness on the issue as he said the choice was taken in March this year and was not shared publicly.

Opposition parties later arranged a walk-out from the House as they looked for a reaction from the government.
