PM Modi announces package of Rs 2,350 cr for floods in NE

Guwahati, Aug 1 Prime Minister Narendra Modi today declared an aggregate bundle of Rs 2,350 crore for all north eastern states for relieving the effect of surges in short and long haul premise.

Modi is on a day-long visit to Guwahati where he will meet the chief ministers of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland and with separate Cabinets to take supply of the latest flood situation

"The PM today declared Rs 2,350 crore add up to surge bundle for the north eastern states," Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told correspondents here.

Giving a separation, Sarma stated, "The PM has declared an exceptional bundle of Rs 2,000 crore for all the north eastern states for help and restoration of flood damage."

The exact share of various states will be worked out in coming days and will be declared in like manner, he included.

In addition that, the Prime Minister has reported a Rs 100 crore corpus for setting up an exploration venture to think about the Brahmaputra and its part in making devastating flood, Sarma said.

"This venture will have a powerful board of trustees including researchers, analysts, engineers. They will ponder the waterway and recommend solutions for handle surges. This will be long haul extend," he included.

As to, the state back pastor said the PM declared arrival of Rs 250 crore quickly to complete help and recovery.

"The leader had discharged Rs 300 crore in June.

The Rs 250 crore declared today was addition to the amount released in June," Sarma said.
