Four senior judges say circumstance in SC "not all together"

New Delhi, Jan 12 In a phenomenal move, four senior most judges of the Supreme Court today called a public interview and said the circumstance in the best court was "not all together" and numerous "not as much as alluring" things have occurred.

Unless this institution is protected, "democracy will not survive in this country," the four judges said.

Equity J Chelameswar, the second senior judge after the Chief Justice of India, said "sometimes administration of the Supreme Court is not in order and many things which are not as much as attractive have happened in the last few months".

Chelameswar, who was accompanied by Justices Ranjan Gogoi, M B Lokur and Kurian Joseph at the question and answer session, said they had met CJI Dipak Misra toward the beginning of today and "raised issues affecting the institution".

Not long after the question and answer session by the four senior-most judges, the CJI called Attorney General K Venugopal for a gathering, court sources said.

At the presser held at his home, Justice J Chelameswar said "unless this organization is safeguarded, majority rule government won't get by in this nation" and included it was "to a great degree excruciating" to hold question and answer session in such a way.

He said the four judges had composed a letter to CJI Dipak Misra some time back, raising critical issues.

Asked whether they needed the Chief Justice to be arraigned, Justice Chelameswar said "don't endeavor to place words in our mouth".

The four judges, in their seven-page letter to the CJI, said "It is too all around settled in the statute of this nation that the main equity is just first among the equivalents - nothing more or nothing less."

The letter reads, "It is with extraordinary anguish and worry that we have thought it legitimate to deliver this letter to you to feature certain legal requests go by this court which has unfavorably influenced the general working of the equity conveying framework and the autonomy of the high courts other than affecting the authoritative working of the workplace of the Chief Justice of India."

"There have been occurrences where cases having extensive outcomes for the country and the establishment have been relegated by the main judges of this court specifically to the seats 'of their inclination' with no method of reasoning reason for such task. This must be made preparations for no matter what," it said.
