Sushma Swaraj 3-day visit to Baku

Baku (Azerbaijan), April 4 External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday embarked a three-day official visit to Azerbaijan's capital city Baku to take an interest in Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Ministerial Conference.

The NAM Mid-Term Ministerial Conference will be held in Baku on 5-6 April under the theme of "Promoting international peace and security for sustainable development".

Amid the visit, EAM will hold respective consultations with her Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov on April 4, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.

The two sides will discuss bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest.

India and Azerbaijan enjoy warm and friendly relations based on historical and cultural ties.

"They have developing respective participation in many areas including energy, transportation, and limit assembling," the announcement included.

EAM Sushma Swaraj will go to the Mid-Term Ministerial Meeting of the Non-adjusted Movement (NAM) on April 5-6.

"As a founding member of NAM, India stays committed to the purposes and principles of the Movement. External Affairs Minister's support in the NAM Ministerial Meeting will underline India's proceeded with dynamic and productive engagement inside the Movement with a view to additionally reinforce solidarity and collaboration among its Member States," the MEA, stated, in a statement.
