Airtel Payments Bank enables card-less money withdrawal at ATMs

New Delhi, Sep 6 Airtel Payment Bank, India's first payments bank, has reported that its clients would now be able to make card-less money withdrawals at more than 100,000 ATMs across India.

Airtel Payments Bank has joined forces with Empays, a global provider of cloud based payment solutions, under which it will empower Airtel Payments Bank's savings account holders to withdraw cash using just their cell phone through the card-less money innovation of Empays, called IMT (Instant Money Transfer).

The technology can be used for self-withdrawal or for sending cash to an intended recipient for ATM money withdrawal.

"We believe in digital India. We are making this a reality by giving inventive digital solutions that enhance banking," said MD and Chief Executive Officer, Airtel Payments Bank, Anubrata Biswas.

"Our tie-up with Empays is an important step that empowers our clients to acknowledge computerized, telephone based money withdrawals at more than 100,000 ATMs, through either USSD or the MyAirtel App," included Biswas.

More than 100,000 ATMs belonging to some of the largest banks in the nation, for example, State Bank of India, Axis Bank and Punjab National Bank are connected to the IMT system for card-less money withdrawals. The network is authorized by the Reserve Bank of India as an payment system and is the just a single of its kind in the nation.
