Fuel costs hit new record high

New Delhi, Sep 01 Fuel costs continued to rise on Saturday, with petrol and diesel costs contacting another record high in a few metropolitan urban communities, including Delhi and Mumbai.

The cost of petrol has been expanded to Rs 78.68 for each litre in Delhi, against Rs. 78.52 on Friday, while diesel is being retailed at Rs. 70.42 for each litre.

In Mumbai, petroleum is being sold at Rs 86.09 for each litre (increased by Rs 0.16 for every litre), while diesel spurted to another high of Rs. 74.76 for each litre (increased by Rs 0.22 for each litre).

On August 31, the cost for petroleum was Rs. 78.52 for each litre in Delhi and diesel was sold at Rs. 70.21. In Mumbai, oil was sold at Rs 85.93 for every litre and diesel at Rs 74.54 for each litre.

There has been a surge in fuel costs since August 16 after the rupee hit a record low of 71 against the US dollar.
