Amit Shah ought to apologise for his remark on Gandhii: Mamata Banerjee

Siliguri, Jun 10 Taking solid special case to BJP president Amit Shah's remark on Mahatma Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today requested that he pull back it and apologise to the nation.

"He ought to pull back his remark and apologise for it.

It is a ponder demonstration. It is grievous, uncalled for and exploitative," she told reporters here.

"Gandhiji is the father of the country and he is a symbol of the world. Nobody ought to imagine that he can state anything simply because he is in power", she said.

In a tweet, Banerjee stated, "When we, in broad daylight life, talk about symbols of our country and the world, we should dependably demonstrate most extreme regard and sensitivity with language".

The BJP chief had yesterday alluded to Mahatma Gandhi as a "bahut chatur baniya" (an exceptionally cunning Baniya - the exchanging standing) while at the same time tending to a social event in Raipur.
