London, Jun 17 An Indian-origin pharmacist who stole right around 5,000 pounds worth of doctor prescribed medications and after that sold them in the city has been jailed for one year by a UK court.
Niren Patel had showed up at Snaresbrook Crown Court and conceded to two tallies of misrepresentation by mishandle of a place of trust, ownership with expectation to supply a Class B medication and five checks of ownership to supply a Class C drug.
He was sentenced to an aggregate of 12 months' detainment on Friday.
"Patel mishandled his position as a drug specialist by making fake requests for physician recommended medications and afterward sold them in the city. The medications he sold are profoundly addictive and unsafe when given to somebody without a solution, said Detective Constable Beverley McInerney, of the Met s Organized Crime Command.
The Metropolitan Police s Controlled Drug Liaison group started an examination in August 2016 after Patel s manager, Day Lewis Pharmacy in Hornchurch, made a report of robbery to the police.
Examination of stock records and medications bought by Patel, who additionally worked at Hedgemans Pharmacy in Dagenham, uncovered he had made false requests for just about 5,000-pounds worth of doctor prescribed medicine.
Amid addressing by police, the 38-year-old conceded he had sold the medications, including Genotropin, a development hormone used by bodybuilders, to a member of the public on the street.
Different medications sold by Patel incorporated the Class B confined drug Dexamfetamine, which is used for weight reduction and to improve academic performance, and Class C drugs such as Xanax, Zolpidem and Diazepam, which are sedatives used as "downers".
