BJP slams Mulayam for safeguarding Gayatri Prajapati

Lucknow, Jun 28 The BJP today assaulted Samajwadi Party patron Mulayam Singh Yadav for safeguarding his close helper Gayatri Prajapati and prompted the SP patriarch to "serenade Gayatri Mantra" rather than supporting the jailed rape charged.

Mulayam's protection of Gayatri reflected his "anti-woman" stance, the BJP said.

"Giving certificate of purity to Gayatri is condemnable. He (Mulayam) is a senior and develop pioneer, however his against lady confront was seen before likewise when he made dubious remarks. Shielding Gayatri, supports his hostile to lady position and attitude of offering support to hoodlums," BJP representative Rakesh Tripathi said.

"No move could be made against Gayatri in the past Akhilesh Yadav administration and FIR was registered against him simply after the Supreme Court guided the recent SP government to do as such," he said.

He prompted Mulayam to "chant Gayatri mantra" instead of defending the tainted Gayatri.

Mulayam had yesterday gone by the region imprison here to meet the assault denounced and named him "innocent".

"He (Prajapati) is honest and is being treated like a terrorist. BJP government is following political feud. I will meet the prime minister and if necessary the president to advise them of the matter," he had said.

"There is no proof with police against Prajapati. A trick is being incubated against him," he had said.

Prajapati was arrested after a FIR was registered with the Gautampalli police station here on February 18, 2017 on Supreme Court mandate.

The complainant had charged that she was over and again assaulted by the blamed. She had asserted that Prajapati had additionally attempted to attack her girl.

A Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) court will outline charges on July 3 against Prajapati and six others in the case.

The matter had rapidly procured a political hue as it came when electioneering was at its top in Uttar Pradesh for the Assembly polls.

Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had referred to the case amid an election meeting in Jaunpur when he stated, "In this nation, when we accomplish something great, we serenade the Gayatri Mantra. However, the SP-Congress alliance is chanting the Gayatri Prajapati Mantra.
