Restrictions in Srinagar against separatists' protest

Srinagar, Jun 30 Authorities today imposed restrictions in parts of Srinagar as a precautionary measure against protests by separatist gatherings over the US' choice to proclaim Hizbul Mujahideen boss Syed Salahuddin as a "global terrorist".

Limitations have been imposed in five police stations in downtown (old city) regions of Srinagar the mid year capital of Jammu and Kashmir, authorities said.

They said the controls were in constrain in regions under the purviews of police headquarters Nowhatta, M R Gunj, Rainawari, Khanyar and Safakadal.

The request to impose confinements on the gathering of individuals under segment 144 of the CrpC was issued by region judge (representative chief) Srinagar as a prudent step to maintain a strategic distance from any untoward incident, the authorities said.

Separatists in Kashmir and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir-based United Jihad Council (UJC) have called for challenges after Friday supplications today against the US' choice to pronounce Salahuddin as a global terrorist.

In an announcement issued here yesterday, the separatists stated, "This unjustified move by the US government to appease Government of India and their (US) quiet with respect to the persecution and human rights circumstance in Kashmir, is not worthy to the general population of Kashmir who will strongly protest against it across the valley post Friday prayers".

The statement issued jointly by chairmen of both groups of Hurriyat Conference- - Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq- - and JKLF boss Mohammad Yasin Malik said dissents will likewise be held against the "illicit and discretionary" captures and detention of the separatist pioneers, activists and youth and raid on homes over the Valley.

The UJC, a combination of over twelve aggressor bunches dynamic in the valley, additionally called for protests after Friday prayers against the US government's choice.
