Delhi sealing case: Supreme court orders remain to Delhi Master Plan 2020

New Delhi, Mar 6 In a move to provide relief to the Traders association of Delhi the apex court on Tuesday requested a stay on the proposed changes to the Delhi Master Plan 2020.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) governed by the Bhartiya Janata Party had proposed to increase the Floor Area Ration (FAR) for the business foundations to shield the dealers from the on-going fixing drive in Delhi.

The sealing drive of the commercial establishments flouting provisions of the 2021 Master Plan started on January 7 in Khan Market on the orders of the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee.

According to the master plan, dealers using properties for mixed purposes, have to pay a one-time change charge at the rate informed by the Delhi Government.

Prior, the monitoring committee directed the three city bodies-South, East, and North

Delhi to distinguish such residential buildings where stilt parking is illicitly being used for commercial activities.
