Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi pay tributes to Lal Bahadur Shastri

New Delhi, Jan 11 Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi paid tributes to the nation's second prime minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, on his death anniversary today.

Taking to microblogging website Twitter, the PM said Shastri's "faultless administration" will be associated with ages to come.

"We pay respect to Shastri Ji on his Punya Tithi. His immaculate administration and brave authority will be associated with ages to come," Modi said.

Gandhi invoked the late pioneer to accentuate the importance of building up solidarity and solidarity of individuals.

"Among the real undertakings previously us, none is of more noteworthy significance for our quality and soundness than the assignment of working up the solidarity and solidarity of our kin," the Congress chief said on Twitter.

"My tributes to previous Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri ji on his passing anniversary," he said.

Shastri was conceived in 1904 and held office between June, 1964 and January, 1966. He passed away on this day in 1966.

He drove the nation amid the Indo-Pakistan War of 1965.

His trademark of 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan' (Hail the soldier, Hail the farmer) turned into a clarion call is still recalled.
