Washington, Jul 16 Ahead of his meeting with his Russian partner Vladimir Putin in Helsinki later in the day, United States President Donald Trump on Monday blamed Washington D.C's. silliness and idiocy for the poor state of relations with Moscow.
He also criticised special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation stemming from the alleged election meddling by Russia in the 2016 US presidential election, calling it a "fixed witch chase."
Taking to his Twitter handle, Trump expressed: "Our association with Russia has NEVER been more awful on account of numerous long periods of U.S. absurdity and ineptitude and now, the Rigged Witch Hunt!"
Taking an aim at his predecessor Barack Obama, the US President tweeted: "President Obama felt that Crooked Hillary would win the decision, so when he was educated by the FBI about Russian Meddling, he said it couldn't occur, was no major ordeal, and did NOTHING about it. When I won it turned into a major ordeal and the Rigged Witch Hunt headed by Strzok!"
Earlier on Sunday, Trump focused on Russia, China and the European Union (EU) calling them as enemies of Washington D.C.
In an interview with CBS at a golf club in Scotland, in the wake of wrapping up his three-day visit to Britain, Trump was quoted by CNN saying: "I think we have a lot of foes. I think the European Union is a foe, what they do to us in exchange. Presently you wouldn't think about the European Union, however they're an adversary."
He included: "Russia is an adversary in specific regards. China is an enemy financially, unquestionably, they are an adversary. Be that as it may, that doesn't mean they're terrible. It doesn't mean anything. It implies that they are focused. They need to do well and we need to do well."
Asked why he first called EU as an enemy, the US President stated, "No, I take a gander at them all. See, EU is extremely troublesome. In an exchange sense, they've extremely exploited us and a large number of those nations are in NATO and they weren't paying their bills."
On late Sunday night, Trump and his better half Melania touched base in Helsinki for the much-anticipated summit with Putin.
Finland has a long legacy of hosting US-Russian summits due to its apparent lack of bias and geographic area, according to a few media reports.
Earlier on Friday, President Trump said that he will "absolutely" get some information about Moscow's claimed association in the US presidential election. "I will totally bring that up," Trump said of Russian interfering in the 2016 election amid a joint question and answer session with British Prime Minister Theresa May.
Russia had before denied intruding in the US decision crusade, while Trump called extraordinary advice Mueller's test on the Russian obstruction a "political witch chase".
The meeting between Trump and Putin is probably going to happen for a few hours and the two presidents will address a joint news meeting after it, as indicated by the Russian presidential associate Yuri Ushakov.
The summit will be the third time that both the pioneers would meet up close and personal.
Putin and Trump initially met during the G20 summit in Germany's Hamburg in July a year ago and again met for the second time in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Vietnam in November a year ago.
Earlier in March this year, the two pioneers held a telephonic discussion, where Trump had welcomed his Russian partner to visit Washington D.C.
