Lord Jagannath's chariot reaches Gundicha temple today

Puri, Jul 15 The 'Nandighosh' chariot of Lord Jagannath, which must be stopped close Balagandi Chhak during Ratha Yatra yesterday, achieved Gundicha temple here today.

The journey of Lord Jagannath's chariot couldn't be finished yesterday as the chariots are not pulled after sunset, according to tradition.

Undeterred by heavy rain, a large number of devotees today pulled the chariot of Lord Jagannath upto Gundicha temple, 3 kilometer from Shri Jagannath temple.

The pulling of Lord Jagannath's chariot by the devotees resumed this morning after completion of rituals of the deity on the chariot.

Two of the three chariots - 'Taladhawaja' and 'Darpadalan'- - conveying Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra had achieved Gundicha temple yesterday.

All the three chariots are presently situated before the Gundicha temple.

The divinities will remain at Gundicha sanctuary for seven days amid the nine-day Ratha Yatra celebration. The devotees can have darshan of the gods on the chariots till tomorrow before they are taken to the Gundicha temple in a procession.

The police have made expound security arrangement around the chariots with the goal that no enthusiast is permitted to climb the chariots or touch the deities.
