Everybody in Tripura has legitimate papers, no demand for citizen's register: CM

Nagpur, Jul 31 Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said today everybody in the state had legitimate papers and there was no interest for a subject's enlist on the lines of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam.

He also expressed confidence that his partner in Assam would have the capacity to deal with the circumstance after the last draft of NRC was distributed yesterday.

Around 40.07 lakh candidates did not discover a place in the historic document, touted to be a proof of Assamese identity.

Deb, who went to Nagpur today to meet Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, said there was no interest for the NRC in Tripura.

"Everything is all together in Tripura and everybody has legitimate papers. Henceforth, it's anything but an issue for us," the BJP pioneer told columnists here.

"I don't feel it is even a delicate issue in Assam and its central pastor is equipped for dealing with the circumstance," he said to an inquiry.

A few people in politics having "remote mentality" were attempting to vitiate the air, Deb asserted.

The NRC contains names of Indian residents of Assam.

The Congress had yesterday questioned the non-inclusion of over 40 lakh people in the final draft of the NRC, claiming that it was a "persuaded" activity under the BJP which was attempting to play "politics of polarisation".

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had additionally communicated worry over the prohibition of more than 40 lakh people in the last NRC draft, saying those "Indian nationals have progressed toward becoming exiles in their own particular land".

Meanwhile, Deb met Bhagwat for around a hour at the RSS headquarters here.

Prior in the day, Deb went to the memorial of RSS founder K B Hedgewar and paid tributes.
