Gandhinagar, Aug 30 Reacting to Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) feedback of Congress president Rahul Gandhi's proposition for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate the Rafale bargain, senior Congress pioneer Ahmed Patel on Thursday said those who once slowed down the Parliament with their interest for a JPC probe are now mocking the meaning of it.
Patel wrote on his official Twitter handle: "Those who stalled Parliament in the past demanding JPC investigation are today ridiculing the importance of JPC. It would appear that they have here and now memory as well as offending Parliament. They should realize that JPC is a Constitutional arrangement ordered to probe scams."
On Wednesday, Rahul had hit back at Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over the Rafale bargain after the last assaulted the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government for slowing down the buy of the multirole battle contender planes from France.
In a tweet, the Congress chief "thanked" Jaitley for "bringing the country's attention back to the great Rafale Robbery," and proposed the establishment of a Joint Parliamentary Committee to investigate the buy of the 36 fighter jets from France.
Jaitley had said that the UPA government, by conceding the Rafale deal, had put India's security in danger. "For what reason did you seriously postpone it? Why did you abandon it? Did you not seriously compromise India's national security when you did this?" Jaitley had asked.
The Finance Minister, who continued office as of late, had additionally said that regardless of the Center creating India's mystery statement with France in the Parliament, Rahul Gandhi declines to acknowledge it. He additionally affirmed the claims made by the Congress depended on "complete falsehood".
In 2008, India had signed a deal with France based Dassault Aviation to purchase 36 Rafale planes, which is slated to be one of the world's biggest military procurement in ongoing history and could cost the Indian government USD 15 billion.
