UP government: Action will be taken against Akhilesh Yadav over harm to official cottage

Lucknow, Aug 2 The Uttar Pradesh government today warned that action will be taken against Akhilesh Yadav as he had done "some harm" while clearing the lodge apportioned to him in Lucknow as chief minister.

Government representative and senior Cabinet Minister Siddharth Nath Singh alluded to the way in which Yadav enjoyed "todphod" (harm) before abandoning the 4, Vikramaditya Marg cottage in June in compliance with a Supreme Court order.

"...One thing is clear, that he embraced some development for which he didn't take authorization from the bequests office. A law is there for this (unapproved development) and the law will follow all the way through," Singh told reporters.

After Yadav had vacated the bungalow, video clips and photographs had shown damage to a cycle track, on dividers after aeration and cooling systems appeared to have been removed and to the floor of what appeared to be a badminton court.

Yadav had then said it was an attempt by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party to defame him.

Singh's remarks today came against the setting of an investigation report submitted to the state homes officer about the harm to the home.

In June, Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik trained Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to arrange a test against the Samajwadi Party boss for leaving the administration property harmed.

When Yadav became UP chief minister in 2012, he was assigned the lodge, which he held after his gathering lost the get together race a year ago.

The representative said Yadav should react to the issue as he had leveled claims against the state government and had begun "playing legislative issues" on the issue.
