Shiv Sena alerts BJP over civic body poll results in Maha

Mumbai, Aug 6 The Shiv Sena asked the BJP today not to commend its win in two municipal surveys in Maharashtra, saying it didn't demonstrate that voters' inclination was turning to support its in front of the Lok Sabha polls.

The Sena sought to downplay the BJP's win in the Sangli and Jalgaon municipal polls held a week ago, saying that leader municipal polls like Lalu Prasad Yadav, convicted in a corruption case, win elections.

The BJP won the Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad Municipal Corporation race a week ago by defeating the Congress-NCP alliance and also swept the Jalgaon urban body where it trounced the Shiv Sena.

This is for the first time that the BJP has come to control in the two civic bodies.

"If the triumph in Sangli and Jalgaon is being viewed as a pointer for the following general decisions, at that point for what reason did the BJP battle to win the Palghar Lok Sabha seat bypoll?" the Sena asked in an article in party mouthpiece 'Saamana'.

It also reminded the BJP that it had lost the bypoll to the Bhandara-Gondiya Lok Sabha seat in May.

The BJP had won the Palghar Lok Sabha bypoll in May this year, yet with a lessened edge contrasted with votes it accumulated in 2014.

The Sena said in West Bengal, Trinamool Congress pioneer Mamata Banerjee is winning relatively every decision and that it appears president Amit Shah will spend some days in Kolkata to guarantee her gathering's annihilation.
