New Delhi, August 1 West Bengal Chief Minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday pummeled the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)- drove Center for barring the names of 40 lakh people from Assam's National Register of Citizens (NRC) last draft.
Banerjee told that the BJP is playing vote bank politics in Assam.
"BJP is doing vote bank politics in Assam. They have excluded the names of upwards of 40 lakh people which is 25 per cent of voters residing in state. This is exceptionally heartbreaking and as individuals we can't do such things," she said.
While affirming that the NRC draft has turned into a worldwide issue, Banerjee included that the BJP has made obstacles for the people of Assam and its neighbouring states.
"Those people who have been forgotten from the rundown will now be banished from getting proportion cards. Not just that, scores of ranchers and the rickshaw-pullers dwelling in the state will likewise be blocked for doing their particular employments. This will have an effect in Assam as well as its neighbouring states, for example, West Bengal and Bihar. This is a worldwide issue presently," said CM Banerjee.
Banerjee further called on all the resistance gatherings to join together and talk about the issue with the administration.
