China willing to play 'constructive part' in facilitating Indo-Pak ties

Beijing, Aug 23 China has said that it will play a "helpful part" in enhancing the relations amongst India and Pakistan.

Addressing a press briefing here on Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry representative, Lu Kang said that Beijing respected the "positive" comments recently made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his new Pakistani partner, Imran Khan, on enhancing and supporting their bilateral relations.

Calling India and Pakistan 'important nations in South Asia', Kang communicated that both New Delhi and Islamabad would improve their ties by settling contrasts between each other all together 'to regional peace and stability'.

"The change and improvement of their bilateral ties are imperative to regional peace, stability and prosperity. As a neighbour to both Pakistan and India, China genuinely trusts that the two sides could upgrade exchange, increment common trust, legitimately handle and resolve contrasts, and make joint contributions to regional peace and development. China will assume a useful part in such manner," the representative noted.

"Anything that will enable the two sides to enhance relations consistently and add to local peace and stability deserves recognition. For whatever length of time that there is any plausibility, China surely might want to play a positive and constructive part," he included.

On being asked whether he was recommending that China will intervene amongst India and Pakistan, Kang stated, "I can't make a forecast for you right now with respect to when and how China will accomplish something. In any case, clearly assuming a valuable part implies progressing, combining and managing positive momentum."

This isn't the first time when China has offered to intercede amongst India and Pakistan. Prior in April, China had requested that Pakistan draw in with India to keep strains between the two nations to a base for opportune finishing of different undertakings under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) venture.

In June, amid the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Qingdao, where India and Pakistan were assigned as full-time members, China's Foreign Minister and State Councillor, Wang Yi had pushed for resolution of differences between both the nations.
