London, Aug 14 An car crashed with the security barricades outside the Houses of Parliament in London on Tuesday, leaving several pedestrians injured.
The Metropolitan Police in London expressed that the driver of the car was captured, CNN revealed.
"At this stage, officers don't trust that anyone is in a life-threatening condition," the police reported.
Two people were treated for minor injuries by the London Ambulance Services, while the underground Westminster station in the region was closed, the Transport for London informed.
"I heard some noise, and somebody shouted. I turned around and I saw a silver car driving from the crossing, very fast and close to the railings, possibly on the pavement," an eyewitness at the scene Ewelina U. Ochab told CNN.
"The car drove at speed. There was a loud bang from the collusion and a bit of smoke. The driver did not get out. The guards began screaming to people to move away. One elderly man rushed me to take cover behind a landmark, in the event of some unforeseen issue," she included.
Authorities are presently uncertain if the incident was related to terror.
Security was beefed in the area following the Westminster Bridge attack in March 2017, wherein four people were killed
by a 52-year-old British man Khalid Masood, who pummeled an auto into the asphalt on the famous extension. Masood also stabbed a police officer in the incident.
