Govt trying to 'quiet' masses: Prakash Ambedkar on capture of activists

Mumbai, Aug 29 Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh leader Prakash Ambedkar named the captures of Left-wing activists for suspected Maoist connections as an attempt to "quiet" the masses.

He said those raising voices against the government were NGOs and non-political organisations, however had their underlying foundations in the majority.

"With these raids, the government is trying to quietness the masses, yet I doubt whether the non-governmental organisations (NGOs) will be quiet. They will be more dynamic in contradicting the administration since they don't have any stake," he said.

"They don't challenge decisions. Their solitary intrigue is to see that vote based system and human rights are shielded in this nation. That is their thought process. They will be more forceful now than prior," the previous Member of Parliament (MP) said.

Ambedkar claimed that when there were raids on right-wing outfit 'Sanatan Sanstha', he had said that comparative move would be made against others and that endeavors would be made to demonstrate a connection with 'Elgar Parishad'.

The Elgar Parishad conclave was organised in Pune a day before the Koregaon-Bhima viciousness on January 1.

Shiv Sena representative Manisha Kayande said the Koragaon-Bhima brutality geniuses had not been captured and examination was still on to find out who were the brains behind it.

"Arresting people by linking them to Maoists is creating an environment in the nation. If attempts are made to politicise this situation, it isn't right," she said.

The Pune police had yesterday attacked the homes of unmistakable Left-wing activists in a few states and captured five of them - artist Varavara Rao in Hyderabad, activists Vernon Gonsalves and Arun Ferreira in Mumbai, exchange unionist and legal advisor Sudha Bhardwaj in Faridabad and Chhattisgarh and common freedoms lobbyist Gautam Navalakha in Delhi.

The raids were completed as a component of a test into the Koregaon-Bhima savagery after the Elgar Parishad occasion on December 31 last.
