Kodagu (Karnataka), Aug 24 Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday reported a budgetary guide of Rs. 1 crore from her Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) conspire for the surge hit areas of Karnataka.
"I am a member from Parliament from Karnataka. I need to offer Rs 1 crore from my MPLAD (Members of Parliament Local Area Development) for Kodagu region," Sitharaman said while partaking at an occasion.
Prior on Friday, the Defence Minister also visited the flood-ravaged area of Kodagu and pledged support for the restoration work where hundreds have been rendered destitute. She had also guaranteed that the Indian Army and the Air Force will work in modifying the lives of the those who have been affected.
Kodagu is one of the most exceedingly terrible influenced zones in Karnataka as exuberant downpours have left a colossal trail of demolition, with hundreds taking safe house in temples, churches and Madrasas.
On August 21, Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy had urged the Centre to give Rs 100 crore relief fund for the Kodagu area.
Similarly, former chief minister Siddaramaiah also appealed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give necessary relief for the victims of the floods.
