New Delhi, Aug 2 A day after the Union Cabinet approved the restoration of the original provisions of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Bill, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said the bill will be tabled amid the continuous storm session of the Parliament.
"The government has already approved the restoration of the original bill yesterday. We will acquaint the bill and need with pass it in this session of parliament," he said in Lok Sabha.
Rajnath Singh's statement came after Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge requested a statute for SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities to be brought soon.
"The government has not done anything to nullify the Supreme Court order. You bring ordinances for each little issue, for what reason didn't you bring a law for this issue," he asked.
On August 1, the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, decided to negate the Supreme Court ruling of March 20 that had banished prompt captures in cases enrolled under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.
The SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Bill, which came in the midst of the due date settled by Dalit associations and LJP (Lok Janshakti Party) to upset the decision, reestablished the first arrangements of capturing the blamed over doubt for offense against the weakest segment of the general public.
The SC/ST Act secures the minimized networks against discrimination and atrocities.
The Supreme Court verdict was widely criticised by the Dalit organisations and the Opposition who guaranteed that the weakening of the Act will prompt more segregation and wrongdoing against the backward community.
On April 2, Dalit associations the nation over organized a monstrous challenge against the judgement of the best court.
Later, the Centre filed a review petition against the ruling, which went futile as the top court declined to remain its rder and asked that all parties submit point by point answers.
On a related note, all the Dalit groups have required a 'Bharat Bandh' challenge on August 9 against the decision of the top court.
The LJP, which is a partner of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), also threatened to join the protest.
