Rahul Dravid inducted into ICC Hall of Fame

Dublin, Jul 2 Former cricketer and India U-19 cricket team head mentor Rahul Dravid was formally accepted into the ICC Hall of Fame here on Sunday (local time).

He is the fifth Indian to be accepted to the esteemed gathering that incorporates cricketing legends, for example, Sunil Gavaskar, Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev and Anil Kumble.

Describing it as a great honour and privilege, Dravid, in his acceptance speech, said " I am appreciative to the ICC for giving me this respect. It is a benefit to be among a gathering of individuals I have turned upward to and I have respected as a young fellow experiencing childhood in the trip as a cricketer. I'd love to have the capacity to thank so many people who have made it possible for me to have a career in the sport and to fulfill my dreams.

"My parents, my family, my two children, my so many friends, partners that I have played with, and played against that improved my game. My many coaches coaches from the time I was in school and the mentors I have played for in India have truly helped me to create as a cricketer. I would not be here notwithstanding backing and love that they have given me and I'm really appreciative and grateful for it," he included.

The 45-year-old further said he was not able by and by get the respect because of his instructing responsibilities with the India A group.

Dravid closed down by saying, "It is a benefit that I will hold near my heart."

The International Cricket Council (ICC) shared a picture of the respect on its Twitter handle.

"The Wall is in The Hall! Here's his #ICCHallOfFame top ??," the ICC tweeted.

Dravid is known for his outstanding defence technique in cricket. He is viewed as one of India's most prominent ever Test batsmen and among the unequaled greats at No.3 in Test cricket.

His 13,288-run feat places him at No.4 on the list of most prolific run-scorers in Test cricket, and he assumed key parts in a portion of India's most prominent Test wins in the 2000s, most significantly in Adelaide in 2003 when he scored 233 and 72 not out.

In one-day internationals, Dravid, otherwise called "The Wall" scored has 10,889 keeps running with 12 centuries.

In 2004, he was named as the ICC Cricketer of the Year and also the ICC Test Player of the Year.
