China extends specialized hold on Masood Azhar's terror listing at UN

United Nations, Aug 3 China has again reached out by three months its technical hold on the US, France and UK-upheld proposition to list JeM boss and Pathankot terror assault plan Masood Azhar as an assigned fear based oppressor by the UN.

China had in February this year hindered the US move to assign Azhar as a global terrorist at UN.

The due date for China to take a move on its technical hold was till August 2.

If China would not have extended the technical hold, Azhar would have naturally been assigned under the UN as a fear based oppressor. Sources told here that just before the due date slipped by, China at the end of the day looked for a three-month expansion until November 2 on its specialized hang on the proposition.

A veto-employing lasting member from the Security Council, Beijing has over and again hindered India's turn to put a prohibition on the Jaish-e-Mohammed pioneer under the AlQaeda Sanctions Committee of the Council.

A year ago in March, China was the sole member in the 15-country UN organ to stop India's application with all other 14 members from the Council supporting New Delhi's offered to put Azhar on the 1267 assents list that would subject him to a benefits stop and travel ban.

The half year legitimacy of that technical hold passed in September and Beijing at that extended it by three more months.

In December last year ago, after China hindered India's proposition to list the JeM chief, Indian diplomatic sources here had said that the quest for terrorism was not a "one-shot issue" for India and that it will continue to pursue issues of terrorism "through all available mechanisms".

Sources had said that the square would not keep India from seeking after at the world body issues of terrorism and endorsing of pioneers of terror outfits.
