Major and jawan killed amid search operation in Shopian district

Srinagar, Aug 3 An Army Major and a jawan were killed while another was harmed as militants opened fire on a search operation in Shopian district of Kashmir, authorities said.

Major Kamlesh Pandey, Sepoys Tanzin Chhultim and Kirpal Singh were harmed in the firing by militants at Zainapora in Shopian locale amid a cordon and search operation propelled by security forces, they said.

The harmed soldiers were cleared to Army's 92 Base Hospital here for treatment yet Major Pandey and Sepoy Chhultim capitulated to injuries, the authorities said.

The security powers proceeded with the search operation in the region however couldn't follow the militants.
