Lahore, Aug 1 Authorities in Pakistan's Punjab region have extended the house capture of Mumbai fear assault plan Hafiz Saeed for an additional two months to keep up open request.
Saeed, the Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief, has been under house capture since January 31 this year. His confinement had been stretched out for three more months in April.
On January 31, Saeed and his four close assistants - Abdullah Ubaid, Malik Zafar Iqbal, Abdul Rehman Abid and Qazi Kashif Hussain) were kept by the Punjab government for 90 days under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.
This time Saeed's home capture has been extended under the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order.
In a warning issued on July 28, the Punjab Government Home Department said on the proposal of the federal interior ministry the detention of the activist - Saeed - has been reached out for an additional 60 days. It said Saaed and others detention expired on July 27.
As indicated by the warning, "The Counter Terrorism Department has reported that keeping in see the normal arrival of said lobbyist (Saeed) and different pioneers and specialists of said associations (JuD and Falah-e-Insaniat) they have intended to spread bedlam in the nation. They have wanted to make exhibits under the initiative of Saeed."
"He will be depicted as a saint and his demonstrations will be celebrated. Abdul Rehman Makki who is the focal pioneer of the JuD has been making arrangements for the reason and has propelled a mystery battle to marshal support of the specialists," the notice said.
It said the "freedom" of Saeed is a constant danger to the peace and peacefulness in the nation.
The notice additionally said that the District Intelligence Committee Lahore independently said that Saeed would make lawfulness circumstance upon his release.
Additional Home Secretary Azam Suleman trusts that the exercises of Saeed are "biased to public safety and maintenance of public order".
"In this manner the Home Department in exercise of forces gave under sub-segment 1 of Section-3 of the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance 1960 Hafiz Saeed is confined for a time of 60 days with impact from July 28, 2017."
A Lahore High Court seat headed by Justice Abdul Sami Khan, which was booked to declare the decision today on the detainment of Saeed and four others, conceded its decision for an inconclusive period.
The court had saved the choice on June 7 after the Punjab government law officer presented an answer and Saeed's direction advocate A K Dogar finished his arguments.
